We believe it is crucial to establish harsher laws for those committing such distasteful acts. We request that the abandonment or dumping of an animal be considered a felony. Moreover, we recommend that any person convicted of animal cruelty should be banned from owning or working with animals for life. In 2017, the FBI started collecting data on animal cruelty, highlighting its importance as a serious offense. This law will add to the efforts of minimizing animal cruelty. We also suggest the creation of a registry to track individuals who commit an animal-related crime, serving as a preventive measure for future animal ownership. This addition will further ensure the protection of animals from potential harm. Animal cruelty has serious societal implications; the Humane Society states that there is a correlation between animal abuse and violent crimes against humans.
