I am a resident of Midland, Texas and an ardent lover of both domestic and wild animals. It is deeply distressing to witness the frequent mistreatment of these innocent creatures in our city. Animals are sentient beings that deserve respect and protection, not abuse or neglect. We humans have a responsibility to protect all life forms on this planet.

In our city alone, there have been numerous instances where domestic pets were found abandoned, abused or neglected. Similarly, wild animals are often harmed due to human activities like exploitation, littering or habitat destruction. This is unacceptable and needs immediate attention.

The laws currently in place do not seem sufficient enough to deter such behavior nor hold individuals accountable for their actions against animals. 

We urge the local government of Midland, TX to enforce stricter laws regarding animal mistreatment and ensure their effective implementation through law enforcement agencies. This includes harsher penalties for those found guilty of animal abuse or neglect as well as increased funding for animal welfare organizations working within our community.
