Our community is deeply concerned for the safety of our children and all residents due to the alarming frequency of speeding on our street, despite the clearly posted 25mph speed limit. Every day, reckless drivers zoom through our neighborhood as if the speed limits don't exist, posing a real and immediate threat to the safety of everyone, especially our kids. Our children are our highest priority. They represent not just the future of this neighborhood but the vibrant future of our society. Their safety is something we should not, and cannot, compromise.

Imagine the unthinkable — a child darting after a ball or riding a bike, only to be met by a speeding vehicle unable to stop in time. We can, and we must, prevent such tragedies. But awareness and concern can only do so much; what we need is decisive, enforceable action.

Statistics confirm that speed is a major factor in traffic fatalities and injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2020 alone, speeding accounted for 29% of all traffic fatalities. This statistic is an unacceptable risk that we refuse to tolerate in our community.

We call upon local authorities and law enforcement to take immediate measures to enforce the 25mph speed limit in our neighborhood. We propose increased patrols and the installation of speed cameras to deter and penalize those who choose to endanger lives with their speeding.

Furthermore, we ask for the placement of additional signage and speed bumps as physical reminders to slow down. These are proven methods used successfully in similar communities to ensure adherence to speed limits and protect pedestrians.
