The Issue

Mica was a beautiful young woman who was full of life, loved her family and God with all her heart. She was ready to finally live a free life away from her soon to be ex husband. She has lost her life due to no one helping her from being harassed and excessively stalked among other things by her soon to be ex husband she was desperately trying to get away from. She made report after report, no contact order was made and received no help, not even from law enforcement. This has to change, to prevent others from being hurt or losing their life. We want Mica’s Law to make a difference.

Stalking and harassment lead to bigger and more dangerous crimes. According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, 7.5 million people are stalked each year in the United States, with 61% of female victims being stalked by a current or former intimate partner (source: National Center for Victims of Crime). South Carolina must enact stronger laws that protect women and others against persistent stalking, harassment, and threats.
