Enforce Health Board Certification for French Bulldog Breeders

Enforce Health Board Certification for French Bulldog Breeders
The Issue
After suffering the personal tragedy of losing my four-year-old French Bulldog to Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), and subsequently, an incurable condition known as myelomalacia, I have been driven to push for changes that will prevent other dog lovers from experiencing this heartbreak. My beloved pet's plight stemmed from complications associated with improper breeding. Therefore, I am advocating for stricter controls and regulations over the breeding of French Bulldogs.
French Bulldogs are among the top five breeds with prevalent health concerns, many of which are potential consequences of irresponsible breeding. According to the French Bulldog Health Alliance, over 80% of French Bulldogs have a propensity for Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). Further, an alarming number suffers from a range of heart diseases and spinal disorders such as IVDD.
French Bulldogs deserve loving homes where they can live healthy and happy lives, free from suffering. This begins with a commitment to responsibly breeding these dogs, not for profit or aesthetic preferences, but with their health and longevity as the top priority.
We are therefore petitioning to make it illegal to freely breed French Bulldogs without obtaining Health Board Certification. Actions such as these will ensure that breeders are educated about potential health risks and breeding best practices. A regulated approach to breeding French Bulldogs will save many from heartbreak and most importantly, save many dogs from life-altering complications.
Take a stand for the health and well-being of French Bulldogs. Demand responsible and regulated breeding practices. Please sign this petition today.
