I am sharing my story to bring light to an insidious form of financial and emotional abuse that is often overlooked: the manipulation by narcissistic partners who deceive their way into marriage with no intention of honoring it. My husband asked me to marry him, promising a life together, only to abandon me on our wedding night, leaving all financial responsibilities to me.

We call on lawmakers to establish clear legal pathways for victims of such financial deceit within marriage to seek restitution. Implementing laws to hold these perpetrators accountable can deter future occurrences and provide a means of recovery for victims.
