As an enthusiastic and dedicated fan of live music, I've experienced firsthand the painful impact of excessively inflated ticket prices due to monopolistic practices. My passion for concerts has been soured by monopolistic practices, particularly by livenation, altering the vibrant and accessible character of the entertainment industry.
There is a general lack of transparency and fairness in ticket transactions which needs to be urgently addressed. We are petitioning to cap the resale price of event tickets, put an end to unethical resale practices, and establish mandated transparency in ticketing transactions.
Studies indicate that up to 40% of tickets are purchased by bots and resold at exorbitant prices, leaving true fans unable to afford to attend their favorite concerts/performance (New York Times, 2018). For the love of music, for the love of culture, and for the love of fairness, we demand that these unscrupulous practices be stopped.
