Are you a downtown Sarasota resident and/or business owner who has heard and been frustrated by the intolerable noise coming from modified/enhanced exhaust systems on cars and motorcycles? Beyond this simple right to enjoy living downtown peacefully, it is true that the excessive noise pollution not only causes annoyance but can lead to serious health issues. According to the World Health Organization, exposure to persistent noise can cause stress-related illnesses, deafness, sleep disturbance, and adverse social behavior. 

Our plea is simple: Enforce a downtown Sarasota law against modified and enhanced vehicle exhaust systems. The request is not outlandish; it is a plea in favor of quality of life, good health, and a peaceful environment.
