Hello friends,
We’re nearly there! This Wednesday is the day when we will deliver the Energy For All petition. Please do all you can to help us get a last minute spurt on signatures, now over 603,000 and still growing! And then,
If you can come:
The new details are here: a rally at 1 pm at the George V statue outside Parliament in Old Palace Yard, Westminster, then proceeding to Downing St for the delivery at 2.30 pm. Please dress for the weather, and bring a snack. Home made signs are welcome! And there will be an open mike at the gates of Downing St if you’d like to speak out.
If you can’t come:
See our social media pack.
Please send us a photo with a #Energy For All sign, order a T-shirt, or help to spread the news.
Since the original hand-in date on 19 September, which was cancelled, the petition has been signed by another 100,000 people, and many MPs have declared their intention to join us on the day. Now the government has U turned even on the price guarantee they promised, – which in any case left people still far from able to meet our basic needs. As usual, the poorest households with the greatest needs are paying the highest price.
Energy For All (e4a), and variations on it, are gaining support by the day, in Parliament, in trade unions and all sorts of organisations, from left to right, and including economic and energy experts. In a national survey, 75% supported a free band of energy to meet people’s basic needs. It also has high level support in the EU, and a “basis supply” of energy at relatively low prices is being brought in in Germany.
We hope to see you on Wednesday! As always you can sign up to the campaign for further updates.
