100% Brownout-Free Occidental Mindoro
May 25, 2015
Good evening, petition signers. We, the residents and consumers of Occidental Mindoro, urgently need your help in solving the 6-12 hour blackouts we are still experiencing. We just need 127 signatures more to reach our goal of 5,000 signatures. We will be presenting a copy of this #WANTEDILAW petition on May 31, 2015 at our local cooperative's Annual General Membership Assembly in Sudlon, Rizal. We will be wearing BLACK shirts to signify our protest against these blackouts that are ruining our lives and plunging us into hardship. We will be wearing black to show our local leaders and electric cooperative how much we are suffering and that we can no longer keep silent. We will wear black to show that we are disgusted at how our lone independent power provider is not producing a single watt of electricity yet is enforcing their "exclusive" contract with our local cooperative. We will wear black because we are mourning the loss of our dignity and morale. Occidental Mindoro is merely 156 kilometers from Manila. It is currently the 18th poorest and 21st least populated province in the Philippines. Not all residents have access to computers, let alone the Internet, and the daily blackouts are making it hard for many of us to go online and sign the petition. We want to create a noise loud enough for the Department of Energy, particularly Sec. Petilla, to hear us and conduct an all-out, formal investigation like he did for Visayas and Mindanao. We need to reach 5,000 signatures as soon as possible. We badly need assistance. We write to ask you to do one simple thing for the 453,000 residents of Occidental Mindoro. We hope you can share the #WantedIlaw petiton via your social networks and ask family and friends to sign: www.change.org/wantedilaw. You can also help us tweet the Department of Energy at @doe_ph and inform them about the petition. Please help us. From the bottom of hearts, maraming salamat... and more power!
