Endometriosis Action Now: Reform Women’s Healthcare in the UK
The Issue
We women bring life into this world, only to have to fight for our own rights in a society where patriarchy continues to suppress us.
We are calling on the UK Government and the NHS to take immediate, meaningful action to address the ongoing neglect of women’s health, specifically, the treatment of Endometriosis. Endometriosis is a full-body disease affecting 1 in 10 women, yet time and time again we are dismissed, misdiagnosed, gaslit and left in constant pain with no real answers or proper support.
I’ve known something was wrong with my body since I was 12 years old. I was only diagnosed in January 2025. That’s over a decade of pain every single day and being told it was “normal” - that it was “in my head” and made to feel like I was overreacting. This is not rare. This is the reality for thousands of Women across the country.
Women are being forced out of work. We are missing out on education, careers, relationships and simply being able to live life without pain. Many of us wait years for a diagnosis, only to be handed painkillers or contraceptives that do nothing to treat the actual disease. The NHS is FAILING women. Endometriosis is still widely misunderstood, even by doctors and specialists who are supposed to care for us.
We demand urgent action:
- Mandatory endometriosis and menstrual health training for all NHS GPs, gynaecologists, and frontline staff
- Proper government funding into research for the causes, treatment and potential cures for endometriosis
Faster, more accurate diagnostic processes; no more waiting 6–10 years for answers - Recognition of endometriosis as a disability when it severely impacts quality of life and mobility
- Holistic and individualised treatment options beyond hormonal suppression or surgery
This disease is not just a “bad period”. It affects the entire body - organs, nerves, fertility, mental health and our ability to function daily. Women are exhausted. We know our bodies. We live in them every single day. We are tired of being gaslit, dismissed, and told to “get on with it”.
Enough is enough.
We demand real care, real research, and real change for women.
