Stop Gaming Domestic Violence and Child Abuse
Stop Gaming Domestic Violence and Child Abuse
Domestic Violence is an epidemic in Australia and in practical terms only a small amount is being partially addressed. The mainstream narrative of Domestic Violence is “Stop Violence Against Women”.
Many Women, Men and Children are dying from Domestic Violence while many thousands more are deeply traumatised and disabled by it while carrying on their lives as best they can.
Domestic Violence Policy must not be a political and ideological weapon used to divide and perpetuate gender wars, but must exist to protect all Australians regardless of their age, gender, gender preference, family composition or ethnicity.
It must stop violence against women and it must do much, much more which is quite simply "Stop Violence Against Anyone". It must stop violence against women by men, it must stop violence against women by women, it must stop violence against children by men, it must stop violence against children by women, it must stop violence against the elderly by their sons, it must stop violence against the elderly by their daughters, it must stop violence against men by men, it must stop violence against men by (yes it does happen) women.
It is far simpler to simply say that domestic violence policy must stop domestic violence.
It must stop all forms of violence. It must stop violence whether it is physical, sexual, spiritual, psychological, emotional, legal or financial. The courts must be resourced, support services must be provided, education must be delivered.
Failure to act has lead to to the deaths of women, men and children. Damage has been done to far too many people. Many people have been killed and many have taken their own lives. Others have become desperate and done foolish things. Past inaction has led to children now grown up and themselves either Domestic Violence victims, perpetrators or both. Current action is insufficient.
It's time to act. - Sign the petition for change.

Knot AMan is an alias because due to a court order it is illegal for him to claim to be a DV Victim and campaign for the senate using his real name. His real name will be used on the 2019 Senate ballot paper.

To [Decision Maker],
Domestic Violence is an epidemic in Australia and in practical terms only a small amount is being partially addressed. The mainstream narrative of Domestic Violence is “Stop Violence Against Women”. This is not good enough.
It has been expanded by your government to "Stop Violence Against Women and their Children" and supported by public awareness campaigns to prevent Elder Abuse by their children. This expansion is both helpful and necessary, but insufficient.
Many Women, Men and Children you lead are dying from Domestic Violence while many thousands more are deeply traumatised and disabled by it while carrying on their lives as best they can.
Domestic Violence is committed by people of both genders towards others of either gender regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference, family composition. It comes in different forms based on education, socio-economic status and gender and includes abuse which is physical, sexual, financial, legal, emotional, psychological, parental and spiritual. Child Abuse by a family member is often also Domestic Violence.
Domestic Violence is an issue for Australia and Australians. It is an issue for the elderly, for children, for men and women. It must be driven by a department that represents them all such as the department of health.
Regardless of statistics, and researchers are best for that, it is entirely inappropriate for the government response to domestic violence to be driven by the office for women to pursue an ideological agenda that divides the genders and pits them against each other in a gender war.
This cannot ever result in research-based funding in areas of greatest need and a reinforcement of the family unit which most commonly includes two adults and one of either gender. Rather, it perpetuates antagonism between genders which is destroying children, families and the fabric of Australian society.
The ideological and political games with funding and messaging about Domestic Violence must stop immediately before more people die and the next generation is trained to become either victims, perpetrators or both.
Australians have daughters and sons, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers and we do not want a gender war and will not tolerate the government's approach to Domestic Violence to start one.
Most Australians of either gender agree with the individual messages preventing particular categories of Domestic Violence. And most are also extremely aware that most messaging is clearly selective, biased and ideological and are sick to death it.
People are dead as a direct result of this political game playing.
To ensure the games stop now, two Queensland victims of domestic violence, one of each gender, are standing for the Senate in 2019 for the Non-Custodial Parents Party (Equal Parenting). They will seek to ensure that the conversation is led by the people who are directly affected by Domestic Violence and not by ideology.
We support them.
