End VU complicity in genocide

End VU complicity in genocide
The Issue
END VU COMPLICITY
As students, we cannot sit by idly as a genocide is being perpetrated against the Palestinian people. In light of these events, we have attempted multiple times to talk to the university board about the university’s complicity in the ongoing genocide and war crimes due to the ties the Vrije Universiteit has with Israeli schools and institutions, but to no avail. During negotiations, the university board even refused to hold a minute of silence for the victims of the bombing of the refugee camp in Rafah. Due to the university’s continued refusal to negotiate in good faith, we, the students, have been left with no other option but to escalate our resistance against the Vrije Universiteit’s complicity in the genocide today! Read our demands, and share.
We demand:
1. Enact an academic boycott and suspend all existing collaborations with Israeli
corporations and academic institutions that are complicit in the genocide and
oppression of the Palestinian people as an interim measure while the human rights
framework is being developed.
2. If the frameworks of collaboration, assess and demonstrate any institutions are linked
to systemic or gross violations of human rights, then the VU must sever ties with
those institutions immediately.
3. Provide a concrete timeline and deadline for the development of the frameworks of
collaboration, based on human rights, and incorporate the voices of the VU student
body and staff.
4. Compile a complete, clear, and exhaustive document, listing the VU's funding sources
and relationships, published on the VU website.
5. Reflect on and change guidelines on demonstration and peaceful protest at the VU,
specifically regarding the newly implemented rules regarding the Israeli-Palestinian
"conflict".
6. Ensure the right of free expression of students and staff, including providing safe
spaces for this expression.
