The Issue

Its time to stop people breeding their "pets".

Pets4Homes puppy selling platform today has 19,404 advertised litters. Only 2528 of them are licensed breeders. That is a total of 16,876 litters sold with NO REGULATION, standards, or accountability for the pups they produce. People breeding their pets often have no prior knowledge of nutritional needs, enrichment programs, and a healthy puppy environment.  This can lead to too many unsocialised, poorly whelped puppies born to under-informed pet breeders, resulting in conditions that hinder appropriate well-being and vital development.  This in turn increases the risk of new puppy owners having difficulty rearing such pups and increasing the risk of them ending up in the shelters.

Research shows that puppies birthed from such circumstances often suffer from physiological and psychological issues, lowering their quality of life drastically. Studies highlight the importance of a healthy environment in the early stages of a puppy's life. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, dogs bred without knowledge of correct whelping, nutritional needs, and required environments, can have significant health and social issues (AVMA, 2020).

Our fur-friends deserve better than a start to life marred by ignorance and lack of knowledge. It's time to uphold an ethical standard for animal treatment, ensuring that every puppy born has a chance at a healthy, happy life.

Please, join us in taking a stand against unlicensed puppy sales. Your support could make the difference in ending this cruel and harmful practice. Sign the petition today, for the welfare of puppies nationwide and the future of healthy, loved pets.
