I write to you as a dedicated environmental activist. Everyday, I bear witness to the ruthless harm caused by illegal tree cutting that destroys bird nests and endangers the survival of vulnerable bird species. This ongoing environmental crime is deeply personal to me, it inflicts wounds that transcend the individual level, reaching into the recesses of my community and beyond.

According to statistics reported by BirdLife International, over a thousand bird species are currently threatened globally, and habitat destruction due to unlawful deforestation is a chief contributing factor. The ripples of this crisis extend beyond birds alone; these trees also play a crucial role in mitigating climate change, with deforestation accounting for about 10% of global warming emissions, as documented by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

The rampant and indiscriminate cutting of trees is, therefore, not just a threat to the birds that call these trees home, but also an accomplice to the global climate crisis. It is high time we recognise and confront this not only as a violation against nature, but also a jeopardization of our own future. In the name of those who cherish the environment and believe in the preservation of all of nature's inhabitants, this barbaric practice must stop.
