Bull breed dogs, including XL Bullies, are more than just pets; they are integral members of many families throughout the UK. Unfair legislation is stifling the rights of these breeds, betraying a bias that needs to be addressed and tweaked. Studies have proven that breed-specific legislation is not effective in reducing the number of dog bite incidents. The American Veterinary Medical Association's review of multiple studies stated that "controlled studies have not identified this breed group [Pit Bull-type dogs] as being disproportionately dangerous" (AVMA, 2014). This evidence suggests that the UK's current approach is misguided at its core. We believe the UK should follow the same lines of reasoning, refuting breed-specific restriction and legislation.
