End Unequal Treatment of Russian Detainees in Otay Mesa Detention Center and other ICE Facilities
The Issue
My fiancée, along many others, currently resides at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, where she and other Russian nationals are being subjected to biased treatment. Everyday, detainees of various nationalities are being released on parole or bond, yet Russian inmates remain incarcerated without this opportunity, leading to overcrowded conditions. This apparent discrimination goes against the principles of equality that underpin the U.S. justice system and in particular, ICE's own stated goals of fairness and transparency in its detention practices.
It seems since around June they stopped letting Russian nationals out while others are released daily. Their voices are not heard and even inside the detention centers they are getting biased treatment.
We request that the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the management of Otay Mesa Detention Center and other ICE facilities, reassess their practices regarding the granting of parole or bond, ensuring a non-discriminatory process that treats all individuals equally, regardless of their nationality. This is not merely a personal appeal, but a call for justice and equality for all detainees. Please, lend your voices to our cause and let's demand fair treatment for all individuals detained by ICE.
