We were shocked and saddened to learn about the horrific tragedy in Hong Kong, a huge fire consumed a high-rise apartment building in the city center. Brave Hong Kong firefighters and citizens rushed in to rescue hundreds of people and pets from the flames and smoke.
The animal rescue posts from the Hong Kong fire have gone viral in China. The majority of the comments on the posts shared on Chinese social media are positive. This is an important indicator that the public perception of dogs and cats is changing in China. More and more people in China, especially young people, consider dogs and cats to be members of the family.
