Like all of our education programs in China's dog- and cat-eating cities, our summer camps allow children and youth to meet, learn about, and bond with dogs and cats.
The children in these communities did not grow up sharing their homes and lives with four-legged companions.
Many of them have been exposed to misperceptions about the value and nature of dogs and cats.
So imagine their surprise and pure delight when they finally experience the loving company of our furry friends.
Misperceptions melt away as they befriend dogs and cats, interact with them, and maybe even pet them for what may be the very first time.
