The Issue

My personal journey with IXL, a worldwide online learning platform, has been an immensely distressing one. It has adversely affected my mental health due to the undue stress it has caused. Like myself, countless other students globally share this distressing experience. I, therefore, plead for all concerned authorities to critically evaluate this platform's negative impact and cease its implementation.

Statistics indicate a significant rise in stress-related issues among students due to pressurizing educational systems. The American Psychological Association (APA) found that 45% of teens said they were stressed by school pressures. IXL, with its high-speed and challenging tasks, contributes to this growing issue. Despite its claim to build comprehensive, engaging, and personalized learning experiences, the reality for many students differs.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) has highlighted the inadequacies of digitally imposed rapid-fire questions that IXL uses. They believe it fails to cater to individual learning rates, thereby causing anxiety.

The mental health of students is a serious matter. We cannot ignore the apparent psychological toll that such academic systems take on our youth. It’s time we prioritize the mental health of our children over stringent and stressful educational methods.

I call upon educational institutions, parents, and the creators of IXL to recognize this issue. We must work towards creating a nurturing and stress-free educational environment for all learners. Sign this petition to support the ban of IXL due to its harmful impact on students' mental health.
