As someone who deeply cares about animal welfare, I am moved to start this petition due to the ongoing use of animals in laboratory testing. Each year, millions of animals including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits and monkeys suffer and die in laboratory testing worldwide. These tests often involve pain and distress for the animals involved and many are killed at the end of an experiment. It is a practice that raises serious ethical questions.

There are alternatives available that can replace animal testing. In vitro (test tube) test methods and models based on human cell and tissue cultures, computerized patient-drug databases and virtual drug trials are among those that can potentially replace animal testing.

It's time we move towards more humane scientific practices that do not involve causing harm to our fellow creatures. We urge regulatory bodies around the world to put an end to animal testing once for all.
