End the suffering of Palestinian children
The Issue
Childhood should be a time of safety, learning, laughter and dreams about the future. No child should have to wonder whether there will be enough food tomorrow, whether clean water will be available, whether their home will still be standing, or whether the people they love will be safe.
Yet for countless children in Gaza and the wider State of Palestine, conflict and displacement have turned these basic parts of childhood into daily uncertainties.
UNICEF reports that children continue to face severe humanitarian needs, including disrupted access to healthcare, clean water, education and protection. UNICEF's September 2026 appeal reports that more than 658,000 children in Gaza remain out of school, while 74,200 children are considered in need of treatment for acute malnutrition. It also reports that at least 21,700 children had been reported killed in Gaza as of June 30, 2026, alongside tens of thousands of injured children.
Behind every number is a child.
A child who should be sitting in a classroom instead of living through displacement.
A child who should be playing with friends instead of worrying about safety.
A child who should be thinking about what they want to become when they grow up—not simply trying to survive the day.
UNICEF reports that most of Gaza's population has experienced displacement and that access to essential services remains severely constrained. Its July 2026 assessment found that 82% of families were water insecure and that up to 70% could not access even six litres of water per person per day.
These are not just statistics. They represent childhoods being interrupted.
We cannot bring back the lives that have already been lost. But the international community can still act to protect the children who remain.
We call upon governments, international institutions and all parties to the conflict to:
• Work urgently toward an end to hostilities and sustained protection for civilians.
• Ensure safe, rapid and sustained humanitarian access.
• Provide children and families with adequate food, clean water, medicine and shelter.
• Protect hospitals, schools and other essential civilian infrastructure.
• Ensure injured and displaced children receive medical, psychological and educational support.
• Uphold international humanitarian and human-rights law and support appropriate mechanisms for investigating alleged violations.
Every child deserves the chance to wake up without fear. Every child deserves food, water, healthcare, education and a safe place to call home.
Palestinian children should not have to lose their childhood because of a conflict they did not choose.
Please add your voice to this call for the protection, dignity and future of Palestinian children.
