End the Prohibition on Internet Provider Competition in Mountain View

End the Prohibition on Internet Provider Competition in Mountain View
The Issue
Mountain View is a tech hub, yet our own City blocks modern internet by banning temporary utility poles, a standard, safe construction method used statewide for fiber deployment.
Nothing is stopping us from having fiber internet except the Government of the City of Mountain View
We can fix this!
Because of this single policy:
New fiber providers are prevented from entering the city
• 112 unsafe poles remain unfixed
• Residents are trapped with little to no competition
• Prices stay high and speeds stay low
This isn’t about aesthetics or safety. It’s a bureaucratic chokehold that protects incumbents and hurts residents.
We demand the City Council and Public Works:
- End the ban on temporary bypass poles
- Allow new fiber providers to build
- Stop blocking competition and modern infrastructure
Mountain View deserves real internet choice, and Government that works for us not against us.
