My personal journey began when my cherished dog was tragically put to death within the harsh system of a kill shelter. Knowing my best friend's life ended without the opportunity of adoption broke my heart. Such traumatic incidents are widespread in kill shelters. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters across the U.S. every year, and tragically nearly 1.5 million of those are euthanized. It's time we do more to protect our furry friends. We demand a halt to the practice of kill shelters and call for these establishments to transition into no-kill facilities, promoting adoption and embracing humane alternatives.
