Animals are dying in the mail due to poor policies and procedures. It's time to change that! The recent spike in cases where baby animals are perishing before reaching their destination through the United States Postal Service (USPS) and others' has raised considerable concern. This is unacceptable, unethical, and a breach of the moral responsibilities entrusted to any carrier service. 

Transporting live animals through standard mail services is fraught with risks. Poor ventilation, extreme weather conditions, and delays can cause undue stress leading to fatal outcomes for these vulnerable creatures. More specifically, baby chicks, who are often sent through USPS, are particularly susceptible to adverse conditions and require meticulous care and handling, which isn't guaranteed by current USPS protocols.

For every successful delivery, there are heart-wrenching stories of lost lives, both in transit and on arrival. The emotional and financial toll this takes on animal owners and breeders is immense. USPS must develop a dedicated set of guidelines and procedures focusing on the safe transport of live animals. This includes ensuring proper packaging, ventilation, temperature control, and perhaps most importantly, a measure to prevent delays.

To make these changes a reality, we propose a comprehensive review of existing policies around the mailing of live animals by an independent committee, which should include animal welfare experts, logistics professionals, and community representatives. This review must identify current gaps and propose alternatives that protect rather than endanger live shipments.

The community can no longer bear the ethical and moral tragedy of losing innocents due to preventable circumstances. Our call to action is clear: USPS, stand up for the welfare of animals! Implement enforceable, humane protocols that prevent any further unnecessary deaths.
