The Issue
The Injustice: A War on Local Farmers
As a licensed Wisconsin hemp grower, I am currently living a legal contradiction. I have the land, the license, and the expertise to grow high-quality plant medicine. Yet, due to restrictive "Total THC" laws and emerging state-level hemp bans, I am often legally barred from growing the very flower I am allowed to sell. To keep my business viable and meet the needs of my community, I am forced to source THCA products from partner farms in other states. This isn't just an inconvenience—it’s an economic injustice that drains millions of dollars from the Badger State and hands it to our neighbors.
The Problem with the "Loophole"
For too long, the "hemp loophole" has served as a band-aid. While it allowed some access, it also gave politicians an excuse to delay real, comprehensive legalization. This has led to:
The Rise of "Gas Station Synthetics": Unregulated, lab-manipulated products taking the place of clean, sun-grown plants.
Economic Leakage: Wisconsinites driving across borders to buy what we can—and should—be growing right here.
Legal Chaos: A confusing patchwork of laws where a plant is a "wellness product" in one county and a "felony" in the next.
Our Demand: Stop Sourcing, Start Growing
Rescheduling is a start, but it doesn't fix the fundamental problem for American farmers and patients. We are calling for Full Federal and State Legalization that:
Protects the Right to Grow: Allow licensed farmers to cultivate the "whole plant," including high-potency THCA, without the fear of arbitrary "hot crop" destructions.
Ends the Hemp Bans: Stop the knee-jerk bans on hemp-derived cannabinoids and replace them with a single, unified, and regulated cannabis market.
Prioritizes Social Equity: Ensure that the transition from "loophole" to "legal" includes automatic expungement for non-violent offenses and creates opportunities for the communities most harmed by prohibition.
Keeps Tax Revenue Local: Let Wisconsin money stay in Wisconsin to fix our roads, fund our schools, and support our rural economies.
