What We’ve Been Doing: Over the past weeks, we have launched direct outreach to student associations across California’s top graduate programs and initiated direct correspondence with legislative offices regarding B&P Code § 4980.43. Most recently, we received official guidance from the Assembly Committee noting that a formal occupational analysis by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) is the precise legislative mechanism required to trigger a review of these mandates.

Milestone Announcement: We have officially crossed our 100-signature threshold! This critical milestone transforms our effort from an individual protest into a collective, organized movement of clinicians, trainees, and advocates demanding systemic labor reform in California mental health care.

California is facing a severe mental health provider shortage, yet our state-mandated 3,000-hour requirement acts as an artificial bottleneck trapping fresh graduates in a cycle of uncompensated labor. Surpassing 100 signatures proves that our community refuses to accept burnout and systemic exploitation as a 'rite of passage.' We are organizing to modernize our licensing standards, eliminate the caregiver penalty, and ensure a sustainable future for the mental health workforce.
