End the Euthanasia of Unadopted Pets in Falls Church Animal Shelters

The Issue

Across the United States, an estimated 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized every year (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). The Falls Church animal shelters, unfortunately, contribute to this heart-wrenching statistic. This situation goes against the moral duty to provide all animals with a chance at life.

We are not requesting a ban on euthanasia in cases of severe illness where the animal is suffering, but for healthy or treatable animals, euthanasia should not be used as a population control method or for reasons of space. It's time to explore other options such as foster programs, adoption drives, and educational outreach about responsible pet ownership.

It's time for change. Ending the euthanasia of healthy and treatable unadopted pets in Falls Church animal shelters can be the first step towards a more compassionate animal welfare system across the country. Sign this petition to demand that government officials and shelter administrators make this change.

Imagine going to a shelter to find your pet and finding out they were Euthanized. Well this is happening to real people. I am a young female, but I want to make a change in the unethical treatment of these animals.
