The war on drugs has done nothing but make drugs more dangerous and children are dying from fake and poisoned drugs. Politicians have made drugs illegal in the past due to their racial, ignorant, and xenophobic ideologies. President Nixon started the war on drugs to combat hippies, war protesters, and the poor. He did this because he couldn’t go against the First Amendment and imprison them based on their protests, he noticed they all had one thing in common, Drugs! Anyone who lived through Prohibition can tell you that it doesn’t work! All it does is supercharge crime! Machine guns were not a problem until bootlegging criminals started competing for turf! Besides imprisoning non violent offenders, the drug war has brought poisonous fentanyl to replace heroin. Heroin is two times the strength of morphine, oxycodone is 1.5 times the strength of morphine while fentanyl is 100 times the strength of morphine. Carfentanyl is 1000 times the strength of morphine! Drug liberalization is the only solution! Stop making cartel bosses billionaires! Stop our children from dying! If drugs were socially acceptable, millions could be saved!
