End the Discriminatory Pitbull Ban in North Little Rock

The Issue

As a resident and animal lover of North Little Rock, I have witnessed the devastating impact of our city's pit bull ban. It is not only racially biased but has senselessly ended the lives of countless innocent dogs, costing taxpayers for an unnecessary enforcement. This ban has been wielded as a shield for the North Little Rock Animal Shelter, hiding numerous, alleged, wrongful euthanizations of dogs that were not even confirmed as pitbulls.

The American Veterinary Medical Association reports that breed-specific legislation is not effective at preventing dog bites and is often costly to implement and enforce [source: American Veterinary Medical Association]. Given our taxes are funding this discriminatory initiative, we must question its cost-effectiveness and demand change.

This pit bull ban must be lifted to ensure fair evaluation and protection of all dogs, regardless of breed. It is time for the North Little Rock Animal Shelter to stop using this ban as an excuse and serve all animals with the compassion they deserve.

Sign this petition to call on our city officials to end the pitbull ban and establish a more fair and humane animal control policy. Let's ensure everyone at the North Little Rock Animal Shelter earns their paycheck by caring for all animals, without prejudice.
