Since November 2019 the City of North Bay has required proof of Covid-19 vaccination in order to work for the City or to serve on an agency, board or committee.

This has resulted in the City firing 11 employees who refused to show proof of vaccination, and has denied thousands of taxpayers the right to serve as a committee member.

It is well-known that the Covid-19 vaccines neither prevent infection nor stop transmission. As such, there is no rational basis for the City of North Bay vaccination policy.

This fact has been recognized by other municipalities across Ontario including Toronto and Windsor, both of which have offered to reinstate fired employees.

We the undersigned call on North Bay City Council to:

• rescind this policy immediately
• offer to reinstate fired employees
• apologize to the community for taking this unwarranted, discriminatory action in the first place.
