The Issue

What's happening:

Tunisian police have been conducting mass shootings of stray dogs for years, killing thousands of innocent animals under the guise of public safety. These dogs are brutally shot, left to bleed out and die in agony. This cruelty has been going on for decades, and the suffering is unimaginable.

Why is this wrong:

This barbaric practice continues despite humane alternatives being available. It’s a violation of basic animal rights and international standards for animal welfare. Innocent animals are being punished for circumstances beyond their control, and the current system offers no compassion, only death.

Many dogs suffer horrific injuries and are left to die slowly. In some cases, mothers are shot dead while their newborn puppies are left to starve. This inhumane approach only causes unnecessary suffering, and it must be stopped.

What needs to change

We demand that the Tunisian government and President Kais Saied take immediate action to:

  • Stop the mass killings of stray dogs.
  • Implement humane, long-term solutions like spaying and neutering programs, vaccination, and building animal shelters.
  • Work with international animal welfare organizations to ensure the humane treatment of all animals in Tunisia.

These methods have been proven to be effective and humane in other countries. Tunisia can adopt these strategies to control the stray dog population without resorting to cruelty.

What can people do:

We urge the global community to stand up against this cruelty. Please sign this petition to help end the suffering of thousands of stray dogs in Tunisia. Together, we can pressure the Tunisian government and international animal rights organizations to act now and implement compassionate solutions.
