Hello everyone,

As I've mentioned previously, I've been in productive and ongoing discussions with an Ottawa City Councillor about addressing the challenges of windrow clearing in our community.

I want to share my latest response where I'm pushing for more than just talk – it's time for action. Specifically, I'm advocating for a pilot program to test windrow clearing across a full neighborhood to gather concrete data on its feasibility. We need a comprehensive feasibility study, not just vague statements about costs and budget constraints.

Here’s what I sent in my latest reply, asking for tangible steps forward:

*“I really appreciate your thoughtful response and your willingness to bring these examples to staff. I completely understand the complexity of the issue, but I also believe this is a problem that deserves real action, not just discussion each winter.

To that end, I’d like to ask:

When do you expect to hear back from staff regarding these examples?
Would you be open to pushing for a small-scale pilot program in a full neighborhood to properly test feasibility? This approach is more practical than selectively clearing driveways for certain residents (e.g., seniors), which could slow down operations and create inefficiencies. A neighborhood-wide test would provide clear data on time, costs, fuel usage, and overall impact without adding complexity for plow operators.
Have you had a chance to share this information with other councillors, as I previously requested? Their engagement would be valuable in moving this forward.
As you mentioned, this is something you personally understand as a homeowner. Many residents struggle with windrows every year, and the health risks, accessibility issues, and general frustration are only growing. A pilot program would be a practical step forward, and I’d love to see Ottawa take the lead on this issue.”*

As always, thank you for your continued support. Please keep sharing the petition with your friends, family, and neighbors to keep the momentum going. Your involvement is key to making this a reality!

Much appreciated 👏
