Any new employee in the UK must wait 2 years to be entitled to any sort of redundancy pay.

This is despite the typical probation period lasting much less than that (typically 3-6 months).

Why should the most vulnerable workers lack this protection?

Let's end the 2 year wait for entitlement in a time of great uncertainty in the economy!

Ideally, the right to a redundancy payment should be granted on employment. The statutory entitlement should cover this at the very least.
