Average stipend for MBBS/BDS Interns in State Colleges of India ranges from ₹20,000 to ₹28,000. This, however, shows a marked exception in Jammu and Kashmir, where the stipend has stayed a meagre ₹12,300 for years on end, less than half of the recent ₹25,000 value established in Uttar Pradesh. Despite various agitations and formal processes for the same, no increment in the stipend has been passed. It is prudent that there be a well-deserved and righteous appreciation in this stipend for the hardworking MBBS Interns of Jammu and Kashmir, and that is our formal request and agenda through this petition.
