End Speedway Racing in Petaluma

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Petaluma, request that the Petaluma City Council take action to end the excessively loud, repetitive, aggravating disturbances caused by the Petaluma Speedway car races.

We have had enough!

The piercing noise is a public nuisance and can be heard in virtually all corners of the city.  For a small number of fans and a minor income to the fair, it interferes with the peaceful afternoon and evening enjoyment of our homes, back yards, and neighborhoods for almost every weekend over seven and a half months out of the year for the vast majority of us residents.

The noise negatively impacts property values, is harmful to the public health, pollutes the air, shatters the relative peace we all want and deserve. Many of us have had to put up with this maddening disturbance for years and years, some for decades.

Today everyone needs to do their part, raceway included, to meet the City’s goal of net carbon neutrality by 2030. In this time of accelerating climate crisis, the races only make the problem worse and are counterproductive to the City’s goals.

Now that the City Council will be determining the future uses of the Marin-Sonoma Fairgrounds property, we request that the Council prohibit all car races.

Our town has had enough of this unfair burden. It’s time to bring an end to the races.

Don't forget to leave a comment. Council members need to know how the noise from the Speedway track has impacted your life.

Note: After you sign this petition, Change.org asks for donation. You do not need to donate. The donation goes to Change.org and not to our campaign. Thank you.
