I spoke with calon cymru today, the policy in place allows the children to access a key to use the toilets the child that was refused should never of happened, I'm waiting for confirmation regarding this in email.
However it brings us to the policy they do have in place , is it good enough?
If a child has a medical issue they are allowed a pass however they still need to access the key to then access the toilets, gastro issues do not allow time for this.
So imagine your a child, just chowed down on school lunch & something isn't sitting right, the cramps start and your desperate to go. First you have to interrupt the lesson gain permission, a note in your book, go access the key. Now as far as I am aware there is one place these keys are kept and they then have to make there way to the toilet... is this really acceptable?, no it really isn't.
If they refuse to unlock the doors throughout the day then surely keys should be accessible from each classroom allowing the child time to access the toilet.
Not all children have a diagnosis and alot of time it an take up untill adult hood to recieve a diagnosis that would allow a toilet pass, all children deserve access to the loos for their poos!.
