End Racism and Sexism in Schools

End Racism and Sexism in Schools
The Issue
I have experienced in my own school a shocking and deeply instilled bias, where people get in trouble simply for belonging to a different race or gender. This is a maddening reality that unfortunately is not limited to my school. Recent statistics reflect a worrying trend where discrimination is visible and prevalent in many educational institutions. The National Bureau for Economic Research reports that teachers set lower expectations for their non-white students, a form of entrenched systemic racism. The AAUW also states that 64% of people in grades 6-12 report experiencing some form of gender or race-based discrimination at school. This emotional recession that students are forced into because of their identity is unacceptable and calls for urgent action. Education should be a safe space promoting tolerance, equality, and unity, regardless of one's skin tone or gender. We demand immediate action against these heinous practices. We want a future where people can learn without discrimination or prejudice. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION OR DONATE so that together we can create an accepting, equal, and nurturing environment inside our schools.
(All donations will be going to NAACP)
