I recently had a heartbreaking experience. As I walked past puppies for sale at a flea market, I saw the deprivation in their eyes. These innocent creatures often get sick and face difficulties later in life due to the conditions they are raised under. This is a direct result of puppy mills, especially prevalent here in Pennsylvania.

Puppy mills prioritize profit over the well-being of these animals. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates that there are more than 10,000 puppy mills operating across the country, many of which are right here in our state.

These facilities often house dogs in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions without adequate veterinary care, food, water or socialization. Puppies born into this world are prone to diseases and disorders - physical as well as psychological.

With enough signatures, we'll be able to bring this difficult topic to the attention of the state.

This petition seeks to bring an end to puppy mills within Pennsylvania by urging lawmakers to pass stricter regulations on dog breeding practices and enforce harsher penalties for violators.
