The Issue

Let’s END Property Tax in Alabama

Across Alabama, local governments impose property taxes—burdening families and threatening property ownership. Though these taxes are often promoted as necessary for public services, the current system is failing us.

It’s time to take a stand against this misuse of our money and the erosion of our rights.

No one should have to rent their land from the government. But that’s exactly what property taxes do—if you stop paying, they can take your land. Tax lien sales prove this is happening, with properties stripped from families and auctioned off to the highest bidder.

You don’t truly own your land if you’re forced to pay perpetual rent on it.

This isn’t just about money—it’s about freedom and security. Property taxes make it impossible to pass land down to the next generation without risk. They punish homeowners for improving their property and create uncertainty for anyone trying to build a future.

The solution?
End property taxes in Alabama—permanently. Replace them with more transparent and fair funding alternatives, such as a limited sales tax or surplus revenues, that don’t penalize ownership.

Adding a sales tax to the sale of all property would replace in local revenue lost through the elimination of property tax. Currently, property tax revenue is split between county and state. The proposed one time sales tax could keep the same ratios.

This change would return power to the people. It would protect your home, your land, and your legacy from government overreach.

It’s time, Alabama.
End Property Tax. Own What’s Yours. Let’s build a freer future—together.
