‘Hidden crisis’ of #PeriodPoverty revealed in new study by amazing @InKindDirect

Hello lovely people!! A new study has revealed the extent to which period poverty effects girls and women across the country. It’s shocking and describes the issue as a “hidden crisis”. But we hope to change that. Period! In the meantime, it’s important to talk about these facts and figures so that the real extent of period poverty can be tackled and we can kick some serious ass as a result! Charity ‘In Kind Direct’ published the report this week. It showed that 56% of 18- to 24-year-olds have gone without hygiene products, or cut down on them, because they could not afford them. This includes period products. New mum Rucksana Begum receives free sanitary products from her local charity in Tyneside, Crest. She was cited in the study. She explained: “not having to worry about buying sanitary towels… as I won’t be able to afford them, is a big help”. We’re with you, Rucksana!
