End painful NHS gynecological procedures performed without anaesthetic and pain relief
The Issue
We all need to sign this. Whether you are a woman, or you have a mother, or a sister, partner or child - this affects you.
Thousands of women undergo NHS gynaecological procedures; like coil fittings, colposcopies, biopsies and hysteroscopies - without being offered pain relief, anesthetic, or proper aftercare.
I had a colposcopy where a biopsy was taken and part of my cervix removed without any anaesthetic. The pain was unbearable. I was left bleeding, shaking, and in shock, then cauterised and sent home with a biscuit and no pain relief.
This is a human rights issue. I recently gave birth, and the contrast was stark. As a pregnant woman, I was treated with care. After birth, I became invisible. Women are seen as vessels, once we’re no longer carrying life, our pain is ignored.
This isn't just poor treatment - it's systemic gender bias in healthcare. If nothing changes, more women will suffer in silence, traumatised by the very care meant to help them.
We need mandatory pain relief, anaesthetic options, informed consent and compassionate aftercare as standard, not as a luxury. Women’s pain must no longer be dismissed.
