My journey to understanding insurance coverage issues began with a personal experience. I am a graduate of the Ultimate Medical Academy, armed with an Associates of Science degree in Medical Billing and Coding. This knowledge gave me a unique perspective: I was able to understand the intense struggle of patients questioning their medical insurance coverage. These are not isolated incidents, but a pattern of behavior that's affecting millions. According to a national survey by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, nearly half (47.1%) of patients surveyed reported their insurance denied coverage for a doctor-recommended service or medication (American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, 2019 Survey).

We can't stand on the sideline while patients struggle. Therefore, we need the powers that be to enforce regulations that prevent insurance companies from employing such tactics. It's time to say no to insurance denials and hold companies accountable. It's time for change, and this change begins with us.
