END MASS INCARCERATION--STOP USING PRISONS TO FUEL ECONOMIES

The Issue

ALMOST SEVEN MILLION PEOPLE IN A LANE IN AMERICA'S CRIMINAL SYSTEM-- IT IS AMERICA'S CRIME THAT SHALL BE UNDONE

EVERY PRISON IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS HAS AT LEAST A 65% BLACK MALE POPULATION, ABOUT 15% LATINX AND THE REMAINDER OTHER RACES, AND THE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE JOBS OR CONTRACTS AND ARE THUS BENEFITTING ARE PLEASED TO KEEP IT THIS WAY.  THE PRACTICE MUST END-- THERE ARE NUMEROUS INDUSTRIES AVAILABLE TO REPLACE 46 CRIMINAL INSTITUTIONS IN ILLINOIS -- WE HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO END THE 400% - 500% PRISON POPULATION AND THUS RESTORE THE FAMILY STRUCTURE AND END THE ELEMENT OF CRIME RAGING IN SO MANY ILLINOIS COMMUNITIES.  ENDING MASS INCARCERATION MEANS CHANGING NUMEROUS ILLINOIS CRIMINAL STATUTES, EITHER BY AMENDING THEM, ADDING NEW STATUTES OR ELIMINATE THOSE  THAT HAVE CAUSED AND CONTINUE TO FUEL MASS INCARCERATION.

IN CONNECTION WITH THE PREVIOUS COMMENT, NOTE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:

CRIMINAL JUSTICE
The U.S. has 5% of the world’s population, but holds almost 25% of the world’s prisoners. The racial makeup in our prisons is also disproportionate. Black people represent 12% of the U.S. adult population, but 33% of the prison population, while white individuals make up 64% of the adult population and 30% of prisoners. Donors can play a critical role in advancing criminal justice reform, from ending mass incarceration to addressing disparities.
