End Mandatory Subscriptions for Outschool

End Mandatory Subscriptions for Outschool
The Issue
Outschool is trying to require all parent to utilize an expensive subscription this month. This ultimately will cost people in countries with a lower purchasing power to not be able to get affordable classes from American English and Spanish-speaking educators. It also hurts people that cannot get education aid for their classes. Instead, it drives inequality between the US and foreign education standards to a whole other level.
The minimum subscription is $40 USD, which is:
- $1,200 New Taiwan Dollars
- 56,000 Korean Won
- ¥6,000 Japanese Yen
This is very unaffordable for people living in these countries, who many ESL and Math tutors heavily rely on for their income.
Outschool is worth hundreds of millions of USD and is one of the largest tutoring platforms in the world, so countless students will be hurt by this decision. Besides, many educators are better off having more clients than just a few clients who pay a slight bit more.
Finally, the payment system has made it very hard for parents to get refunds whenever they need to cancel or change class times due to a busy schedule.
For Amir Nathoo and the Outschool Team...end this mandatory subscription requirement for the sake of our international and low-income students!
