End Mandatory Military Service for Male K-Pop Idols

The Issue

There is an undeniable magic that male K-pop idols bring into the lives of millions across the world. Their music, their performances, and their engagement with fans have provided a beacon of solace during difficult times. I treasure that connection and believe that it is absolutely vital.
Currently, all men in South Korea, including K-Pop idols, are required by law to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months, which greatly affects their careers and their fans worldwide (Source: National Institute for Korean Language). This military service has the potential to disrupt the careers of K-pop idols, striking a blow to the lives of their diehard followers.
We acknowledge and appreciate the significance of military service in Korea. However, we propose an amendment to this law, allowing these talented young people to pursue their careers uninterrupted - a move which can also significantly contribute to South Korea's soft power and economy.
