TALE Townsville Against Live Export
2025/05/29

Tomorrow, Friday 30 May 2025 it will be 14 years since the Australian public awoke to the shocking reality of live export when on 30th May 2011, ABCs Four Corners broadcast footage from Animals Australia’s tenth live export investigation — in a program called ‘A Bloody Business’. The public saw what was happening to cattle exported live to face ‘roping’ and fully-conscious slaughter in Indonesian slaughterhouses. Tommy was a lone black steer, filmed as he stood trembling watching his companions killed and butchered in front of him.

Please send a message to the Minister for Agriculture,  https://minister.agriculture.gov.au/collins/contact reminding her that you, like the majority of Australians, want the Labor government to end ALL live animal exports and until the cruelty ends to ensure that all exporters comply fully with the standards set out in the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (ASEL) and the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS). Currently most reports of ESCAS breaches seem to be made by animal welfare groups like Animals Australia and PETA. According to the Australian Livestock Exporters Council (ALEC) there are almost 600 abattoirs approved to slaughter Australian livestock under the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System standards. The last report of any breach was made by Animals Australia in September 2023 and is still showing on the DAFF website as "Investigation in progress."  photo Animals Australia
