Dear Supporters,
We are just shy of 600 signatures! I want to thank each and every one of you for signing, sharing, and standing beside me in this fight for justice. Your support continues to give strength and purpose to this movement.
So much has transpired since our last update. The #JustWhyMovement has officially partnered with the Maryland Crime Victims’ Resource Center (MCVRC) to continue advocating for victims’ rights and accountability in our justice system.
On October 3, the #JustWhyMovement attended the MCVRC Gala in honor of Vincent and all victims of violent crime. It was an emotional and inspiring evening dedicated to supporting victim rights and amplifying the voices of survivors.
On October 11, we also participated in the Annual Remembrance Ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance located at the Upper Marlboro Courthouse — a heartfelt ceremony where families placed their loved ones’ names on the Tree of Remembrance. The #JustWhyMovement hung a heart for all innocent victims whose lives were stolen by acts of violence, symbolizing that none of them will ever be forgotten.
Looking ahead, the #JustWhyMovement will be traveling to Annapolis to meet with delegates in our continued efforts to amend House Bill 853 — to ensure no second look for murderers. Justice must be restored to a victim-centered model, one that focuses on the weight of the crime and the lasting impact on victims, not on the leniency of offenders.
💙 Victim Impact Statements Reminder:
If you have not yet submitted your Victim Impact Statement to the State’s Attorney’s Office of Prince George’s County, addressed to Judge Cotton, please note the deadline is October 20. Submissions can be emailed directly to me at divine@bydivinedesign.me.
The sentencing hearing will be held on November 3, 2025, and I welcome you to stand with us at the courthouse on that day as we honor Vincent’s life and all victims seeking justice. Please be aware that media will be present during sentencing.
Your ongoing support is making all of this possible. Please continue to share this petition, spread the word, and keep following our journey. Together, we can create change that truly honors victims and their families.
Thank you for standing with me, for Vincent, and for every life taken too soon.
With gratitude and determination,
Divina Fisher
