Around 1.5 million animals are killed in shelters every year. The shelters will kill these innocent animals for space or behavioral problems. I volunteer at a shelter and I work with animals that have been lost, neglected, abused, abandoned, and surrendered. This shelter is a no kill shelter. They work with the dogs with their own Canine Behavior Programs to help dogs that have been abused/neglected, and help them  regain their trust in humans. Kill shelters are not even close to this, and they are extremely difficult to even talk about. These dogs that get killed are completely innocent. I know some dogs can be aggressive, but it’s not the dogs fault. It would have to be the dogs past owners fault who trained the dog to behave that way. All the same goes for cats. Killing these innocent dogs and cats in shelters should DEFINITELY be illegal and nothing can change my mind about that. Seeing pictures of happy, alive dogs before they were killed is absolutely devastating and I cry every time I see those pictures. This brutal treatment to dogs is beyond my understanding and needs to stop. Think about the dogs fear before it gets killed. How is this different from killing homeless human beings? Kill shelters are absolutely devastating. If kill shelters were gone, there would be so many families with happy, healthy, and grateful puppies and kittens.
