End Kill Shelters by Increasing Government Funding for Animal Rescue

End Kill Shelters by Increasing Government Funding for Animal Rescue
The Issue
My dog was a tiny pup, only 3 1/2 months old when we were fortunate enough to adopt him. Abandoned as a puppy, he was picked up and taken to a shelter that, like so many, was bursting at the seams with lost, unwanted animals. He had two options; be moved to another shelter that could accommodate him, or face death due to lack of space. Having been moved, my furry friend was one of the lucky ones. But not all animals get the opportunity to find a forever home before it's too late.
We cannot stand by and allow our four-legged friends to be euthanized before they get a second chance at life. We must stop the functioning of kill shelters and push for increased government funding dedicated to shelters and resources. Too many innocent lives are lost due to lack of funding and overcrowded facilities. In fact, the Humane Society of the United States estimates that about 1.5 million animals are euthanized in shelters across the country each year.
We are calling on our lawmakers to make a dramatic, life-saving change for these animals waiting in the wings for their forever homes. The solution: Increase funding to animal rescue endeavors, creating more space, and options for stray, lost, or unwanted pets, ultimately bringing us closer to ending the loss of animal lives at kill shelters.
Let all animals get the chance that my dog got. It's time we prioritize and protect their lives as they would ours.
Please sign this petition and protect our animals from a premature downfall caused by neglect, abandonment, and underfunded rescue services.
